MM: Somewhere Over The Rainbow

While we were on our way home from school last Thursday, the kids and I saw a rainbow over the horizon. Champagne asked me to find the end of the rainbow saying a pot of gold could be found there. Whoa!SmileyLepreachauns are guiding that pot of gold and where could that so-called end be? I have to tell her it's just a story just to keep her from nagging me.

Anyway, I was supposed to embed Judy Garland's video here, but I found this kid with both angelic face and voice so fantastic. Enjoy and Happy Music Monday! Smiley

Bubbly Champagne

I'm not talking about the alcoholic drink here but my eldest daughter instead. However, her name does fit the alcoholic drink as she is as bubbly as a champagne. I have to slow her down when she talk as she talks real fast, like a thousand words per minute. Anyway, meet Aldianne Champagne also known as Cha-Cha. She is now eight years old and is currently in third grade. She so loves Disney Princesses and just like other kids, she loves to watch cartoon shows in Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. She also loves to read storybooks. She is a smart and a responsible kid and I know I can entrust her siblings to her. I am proud of her when it comes to her school work as she can study and do her assignments on her own. She only needs a little reminder from me and she's good to go. She is also adventurous and a risk-taker just like me.

But she is not perfect. At her age she is still a big cry baby. Perhaps this is because she worries just about anything however small the thing is. She also has a low self-esteem which worries me the most. Perhaps because she is chubby. I hope she can get over this as soon as possible. I don't know how but I'm looking for ways to help her. I also hope she will grow as a fine lady, brave and proud of herself, God-fearing and with good positive values.

Bohol Tour: Chocolate Hills

The main reason why I have always wanted to go to Bohol is to see it's most famous tourist destination, the Chocolate Hills. Well, I was able to satisfy that curiosity within me when it was on our itinerary during our summer vacation.

Here's a little information from Wikipedia:

The Chocolate Hills is a rolling terrain of haycock hills – mounds of general shape which are conical and almost symmetrical. Estimated to be at least 1,268 individual mounds to about 1,776, these cone-shaped or dome-shaped hills are actually made of grass-covered limestone. The domes vary in sizes from 30 to 50 metres (98 to 160 ft) high with the largest being 120 metres (390 ft) in height. They are scattered throughout the towns of Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan in Bohol. Bohol's "main attraction", these unique mound-shaped hills are scattered by the hundreds on the island's central plain, concentrated near the town of Carmen.

During the dry season, the precipitation is inadequate such that the grass-covered hills dry up and turn chocolate brown. This transforms the area into seemingly endless rows of "chocolate kisses". The branded confection is the inspiration behind the name, Chocolate Hills.

How To Pat Baby To Sleep

Putting a baby to sleep by patting her on the back instills a feeling of comfort and security in the baby, and creates a stronger bond between adult and infant. The key elements are making the child feel secure and not conveying any tension or frustration you may be feeling by staying calm and focused. Use this method when the baby is upset or fussy, or if you simply feel like spending some quiet time with your child.

Things You'll Need:

* Baby blanket
* Rocker

Step 1

Swaddle the baby in a small blanket. Lay the blanket out flat and then lay the baby, face up, on the blanket with her feet pointed toward one corner and her head pointed toward the opposite corner. Fold the bottom corner up over her feet then fold the corners opposite her hands toward the center, making a snug wrap with her arms inside.

Step 2

Find a quiet room with no loud noises or bright lights. Sit down in a rocker or a glider and place the baby against your shoulder. Keep one hand firmly but not tightly around the baby's upper legs. Place one hand on the baby's back. Her head should rest on your shoulder.

Step 3

Calm yourself so that the baby doesn't sense any tension. Use your feet to rock the chair back and forth gently. Don't make sudden moves and don't exaggerate the rocker's movement.

Step 4

Use your hand to slowly and gently pat the baby's back just below the shoulder blades. If she squirms, make sure you're holding her firmly so that she feels secure.

Step 5

Keep rocking and patting until you sense the baby has fallen soundly asleep. Slow your rocking and patting until you've stopped moving. Put the hand you were patting the baby with against the back of her head and neck and shift her to a position against your chest.

Step 6

Get up in a smooth motion and lay the baby down in her bassinet or crib.

Disney Princess Toddler Bed

Rose of Obstacles and Glories invited me to join her 2nd Blog Anniversary Giveaway. Whoever wins the contest will receive a $100 promotional code from the sponsor,CSN Online Store. Unfortunately, the promo code is valid for US and Canada residents only but Rose is willing to give $25 dollars via Paypal if the winner is otherwise. So here I am trying my luck again to win this contest most especially when I found this fantastic Disney Princess toddler bed with canopy when I visited the sponsor's website.

Champagne loved it instantly the minute I showed it to her as she so adores the Disney Princesses. I regret what I did a minute later. She got disappointed when I told her it wouldn't fit her anymore but she wants her sister, Chezelle to have the bed.

I know I am not eligible to win the bed but if I win the $25 cash, I could get either or both of them Disney Princess bed covers.

Bohol Tour - EAT Danao

After we spent three days in Manila, we then went to Cebu City, my hometown where we met with my parents and siblings to plan for our Bohol getaway. My father is a born Boholano and I've been to Bohol a few times already but this is the only time that I have really toured the place. It was also here that I first have the extreme adventure of my life. Smiley

First stop was in Danao Adventure Park where I get to try Suislide/Zipline/slide for life. It is basically a zip-line consisting of a pulley suspended on a cable mounted on an incline cliff. It traverses around half a kilometer from one mountain to another, taking you to less than a minute of exhilarating ride. If you are afraid of heights, it could mean much more like "suicidal ride".

I think Champagne got my adventurous side as she was so willing to try the ride without hesitation at all. Hand in hand we went for our first ever breathtaking ride of our life. Charlton was scared to try the Suislide but he was willing to try the sky ride/cable ride as it looks less terrifying. If hubby was scared to try the rides at Star City,Smileythe more he was scared to try the extreme rides in Danao Adventure Park. He just stayed by the sides, enviously watching us and taking lots of pictures.

I would have wanted to try the "Plunge" too, but I think, aside from the fact that it is a bit expensive, I am not yet ready. Next time, perhaps. If you want to see how the "Plunge" looks like, click here, and tell me what you think. Smiley

getting ready for the ride

we are ready to "fly" wooohooo!

that is us, alright! sorry, not a good shot from hubby.

bro and sis enjoying their ride.'
