June 2010 Top First Commenter

Whew! I just finished updating my FCSB for June and July. I was cramming a while ago because I set myself a deadline. I have to post this before midnight and I'm glad I successfully made it. I am really a big procrastinator and this is what I get. Pressure. Smiley

Anyway, thank you to all  my commenters for June who lovingly left their kind comments.  They are all greatly appreciated. Smiley I hope you won't get tired dropping by here.

Mariuca will receive 1000 entrecard credits and 1 month ad spot.

Loving The New Look

Perhaps you have noticed by now my blog's amazing new look. I have patiently waited for Lady Java to design this new blog that I tolerated this blog's previously messed up look for almost 3 months. Now, everything is just perfect. I so love the header, the badge, the background, the colors...everything! Lady Java is indeed a genius. She did a wonderful job in less than two days. Actually, she would have done it in less than a day if I know what I want. Yes, she really has to delve into my brain to figure out what I really wanted. LOL. Thank you so much, LJ!

If you are planning to have a blog makeover and you love my blog's new look, why not contact her? You may visit her blog here and have a look at the wide array of her lovely creations.

This is how this blog looks before the makeover

Feeling Nostalgic

I always feel nostalgic every time I watch my kids set off for school, Champagne with her big trolley bag and Charlton with his kids backpack similar to stephen joseph backpack. It seems it was just yesterday that I first brought Champagne to preschool with Charlton tagging along. Fortunately, I don't have to bring a nap mat along since my in-laws have a house situated near the school so I don't have to worry on where Charlton can peacefully sleep while waiting for his big sister. Now, Charlton is on preschool and it's Chezelle who is tagging along; sleeping while waiting for her big brother. Oh well, time surely flies fast. Next thing I'll know, I'd be sending them off to college. Enough. I hate to think of that.  I just want them to stay babies/kids forever.

Ready For Solid Food

It's more than a month  since I gradually introduced my now 6 month old baby to solid food.  I was quite hesitant at first, afraid that her still sensitive little tummy can't digest the food. However, after a few days of studying her for signs, I was quite confident that she is in fact ready for solid food even if I didn't see any signs of teething.

Signs to watch out for if baby is ready for solid food:
  • Head control. Your baby needs to be able to keep his head in a steady, upright position.
  • Sits well when supported.  Your baby needs to be able to sit upright to swallow well.
  • Tongue-thrust reflex is gone. To keep solid food in his mouth and then swallow it, your baby needs to stop using his tongue to push food out of his mouth.
  • Makes chewing motions.  Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow.
  • Shows interest in food.  Your baby may begin eying and grabbing your food as it travels from your plate to your mouth
  • Shows significant weight gain or birth weight has doubled.
  • Growing appetite.  Your baby seems hungry after 8 to 10 feedings of breast milk or 40 oz. of formula in a day
  • Makes chewing motions.  Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow.

Foster Parent Needed

Most of us bloggers, consider our blogs as our babies and just like normal babies some blogs need foster parents. Take for instance, Gee's The Twitterer. It needs good hands that can take care of it as Gee cannot handle two blogs anymore with her busy schedule. You won't be sorry if you would adopt this blog because it achieved Google's PR3 in just a period of 3 months. If you are interested, just create a blog post about what you will do in case you receive a Page Rank 3 blogger blog for free. Do drop by At Home with Georyl as well for more information.

An Achiever Kid

I was supposed to post some more pics from our Bohol vacation, but our internet connection is acting up again. So while waiting for the pages to download, I took a quiz from Blogthings and this time I can't say I totally agree with the result. Although, I acted quite like an adult during that time, I was just a regular average girl. I don't remember being a snob.  In fact, I like to make friends with the less serious type. Smiley

You Were an Achieving Kid

When you were a kid, people often remarked on how mature you seemed. You acted quite adult.
You excelled at school, and you actually enjoyed it to a large extent. No one had to ask you to do your homework.

As a kid, you were probably a bit picky. You liked structure, schedules, and organization.
You had trouble being friends with regular kids. You probably were only friends with other serious children.

Fluffy Friday #3: Poor Hershey

Meet Hershey, my in laws' pet dog. She used to be so pretty and so fluffy but look at her now. It seems she is not well taken care of. She has lots of fleas, ticks and I bet worms, too. Poor Hershey. I hope she's okay now as the last time I heard she will be sent to the vet.

Oh, I remember I told my 3-year-old niece that perhaps Hershey has worms because she has big tummy. The naive little girl said that it is because Hershey is not wearing slippers. Smiley

Share your fluffy friends with us every Friday! Whether it's a favourite stuffed toy or an adorable pet - basically anything fluffy, we'd love to see your pictures & stories! Leave ONLY the POST URL here and grab the Fluffy Friday badge at Meow Diaries. Any unrelated links will be deleted.

Little Angel at Six Months

Burp! Oooops, sorry! We just celebrated Chezelle's 6th month birthday and although, we only have spaghetti for this occasion, I am still so full after eating a plateful of it. Anyway, my sweet little angel has achieved a lot in one month's time. Now, I cannot just leave her alone in the bed or in the couch even for a second or she might fall. She smiles and jumps with joy every time she sees her cute little face in the mirror. She enjoys watching her siblings and other children play indicating that she wants to join too. I bet she is as talkative as her elder sister.  She loves to have conversation with just about anybody, cooing nonstop if talked to as if she wants to say something but just couldn't blurt a thing. And, for almost a month already, she has been eating solid food.

More of her milestones for this month:

  • Se can now sit on her own.
  • She can roll from her back to her stomach and back again.
  • She rocks and pivots while lying on her stomach.
  • She can grasp and mouth objects, and can pass objects from one hand to another.
  • Smiles, laughs, squeals and begins to imitate sounds.
  • Baby looks for dropped toys.
  • Baby expresses unhappiness when an object or toy is taken away.
  • She digs her fingers and toes into the floor to push herself toward a favorite toy.
  • Turns toward sounds and voices and can recognize her own name

MM: Three Little Birds

This is my "cheer me up" song every time I am down. Although I like Bob Marley's version, I just can't find a very nice video of it. Luckily, I found Connie Talbot's version. Watching this little angel is just simply so amazing that I totally forgot what I went through. By the way, it is not just the song that cheered me up now nor the video.  It is what you call FRIENDS.  Thank you very much  Mariuca, Bill, Caroline, Monica, and  Gee. Your loving and kind words surely made me whole again.  Happy Music Monday to all!

First Blog Award

I was drowning with self pity for the past few days. I felt so little, so useless and most of all so insignificant. Thanks to Ryheanne. Her award's perfect timing surely uplifted my spirit. Even if I felt that the contents of my blog are purely nonsense, I am so glad she found some substance in it.

The Rules:

* Thank the blogger who awarded it to you.
* Sum up your blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience using five (5) words. ENJOY LIFE WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS
* Pass it on to 10 other blogs which you feel have real substance.

I'm passing this first ever award to my dear online friends whose blogs for me are full of substance.

June Entrecard Top Dropper

I have made it a habit on my other blog to thank all my entrecard top droppers for the previous month just to show that I really appreciate their regular visits. I would also like to practice the good habit for this blog so  every month hereon, all my top droppers will be featured on my sidebar for one month and will receive entrecard credits.  Since this blog is still new and has only a few entrecard credits, I am supposed to give only 500 ec.  But, it's my birthday month Smiley and I'm feeling a bit generous so the top dropper will receive 1000 ec credits.  Smiley Congratulations and I hope to see you again next month!

A Plea For Help

She is way so adorable, right? This is Mommy Rubz precious daughter, baby Bella Grace. Sad to say, she has hernia.

A hernia occurs when the contents of a body cavity bulge out of the area where they are normally contained. These contents, usually portions of intestine or abdominal fatty tissue, are enclosed in the thin membrane that naturally lines the inside of the cavity. Although the term hernia can be used for bulges in other areas, it most often is used to describe hernias of the lower torso (abdominal-wall hernias).

Hernias by themselves may be asymptomatic (produce no symptoms), but nearly all have a potential risk of having their blood supply cut off (becoming strangulated). If the blood supply is cut off at the hernia opening in the abdominal wall, it becomes a medical and surgical emergency as the tissue needs oxygen which is transported by the blood supply.

They need financial assistance as the surgery would be around $1000. To come up with the amount, Mommy Rubz is offering a paid review on her PR3 blog for $10. The review will have 2 links and an image of the header or the screenshot of the blog to be reviewed. Please send the URL of the blog you want to be reviewed to pehcats@gmail.com. You will receive a reply with the URL of the post and a Paypal ID after the review is done.

My heart goes out for baby Bella and Mommy Rubz. I hope this little act of mine can help them raise the amount they need.
